167 Senior Police Officers Face Disciplinary Panel For Misconduct -

In a move signalling a tougher stance on internal discipline, the Nigeria Police Force has begun reviewing the conduct of 167 senior officers accused of professional misconduct and related offences.

Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, in a statement on Tuesday, said the senior officers facing the committee hold the rank of assistant superintendent of police and above.

Mr Placid said, “The Nigeria Police Force has commenced the sitting of the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to review pending disciplinary matters involving one hundred and sixty-seven (167) senior police officers over alleged breaches of professional conduct and other related offences.

The proceedings, currently underway at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, are being handled by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), a key internal body tasked with examining cases involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.

The process is expected to ensure fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to existing laws before recommendations are forwarded to the Police Service Commission.

Reaffirming the Force’s zero-tolerance stance, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, stressed that any officer found guilty would face due process without protection or favour.

The disciplinary exercise forms part of broader reforms aimed at restoring professionalism, tightening internal control, and rebuilding public trust in the police.
