Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially become a three-time Guinness World Records holder, marking a remarkable milestone in her culinary career as she welcomed the new year.

The announcement came on Wednesday, when Hilda Baci shared her excitement on Instagram, revealing that she had received surprise confirmation from Guinness World Records.

She updated her social media bio to read “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder” and posted: “Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026.”

The latest recognition stems from her September 12, 2025, achievement in Lagos, where she collaborated with food brand Gino to prepare an enormous quantity of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

Initially certified for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, the Hilda’s feat involved cooking 8,780 kilograms (approximately 19,356 pounds) of rice in a nine-hour open-air session at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island.

This produced thousands of portions and drew widespread attention for celebrating Nigerian cuisine on a global stage.

Months later, Guinness World Records reviewed the evidence and determined that the same attempt also qualified for the broader title of largest serving of rice overall.

An email from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering – Records Creative Team at Guinness World Records, confirmed the dual achievement.

In the message, Fanning wrote: “Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing (again)! It has come to our attention when comparing record guidelines of the two record titles, that when you and your team attempted and achieved ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice,’ you also achieved the record title of ‘Largest serving of rice,’” adding that the additional title was being proactively awarded.

What Chef Hilda initially believed was a single record turned out to be two, elevating her total to three Guinness titles.

Baci first entered the Guinness record books in May 2023 with the longest individual cooking marathon (also known as a cook-a-thon), enduring 93 hours and 11 minutes of continuous cooking.

That grueling feat captured international headlines and established her as a symbol of endurance and passion in the kitchen.
The chef expressed profound gratitude to her team, partners like Gino, and Guinness World Records for the recognition.

“To my incredible team, this is OUR win,” she wrote. “Every long day, every detail, every push, it all mattered.”

Baci’s achievements highlight Nigeria’s growing influence in global food culture and record-breaking endeavors.

Fans and fellow chefs have flooded social media with congratulations, celebrating her as an inspiration for aspiring culinarians across Africa and beyond.
