Edgard Consulting Trains Police IRT Personnel on Rescue Operations, Emergency Response
In a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and enhancing operational readiness, Edgard Consulting Limited has conducted a specialised quick response and rescue training programme for personnel of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force under the Office of the Inspector-General of Police in Abuja.
The two-day intensive training, organised as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, focused on rapid emergency response, tactical movement, rescue coordination, casualty evacuation, first responder actions, weapon handling, anti-hostage operations and operational preparedness in high-risk environments.
Speaking during the programme, the Principal Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Edgard Consulting Limited, Mr. Edward Orim, said the training was designed to equip security personnel with modern skills required to effectively tackle emerging security threats and emergency situations.
According to him, the company remains committed to supporting national security agencies through continuous capacity building and professional training programmes.
“Edgard Consulting Limited is a risk management organisation involved in training, risk assessment and protection of humanitarian operations, schools and other soft targets. We have just concluded a successful training with the Nigeria Police, specifically the IRT, and we intend to continue supporting security agencies through our corporate social responsibility initiatives,” Orim said.

He noted that the training was offered free of charge as part of the firm’s contribution to strengthening the operational effectiveness of the police.

“We want to support our people because the police are our partners in maintaining security. Through continuous training and retraining, officers will be better prepared to respond to evolving security challenges and emergency situations,” he added.
One of the lead instructors, Mr. Simeon Itodo explained that participants were exposed to global best practices in tactical operations, search and rescue missions, trauma management and first aid.
“The officers and men of the IRT were trained by Edgard on weapon handling, search and rescue operations, anti-hostage scenarios, first aid and trauma management, including how to manage gunshot injuries.

“The training meets international standards comparable to what obtains in countries such as Israel, the United States and parts of Europe,” the instructor stated.
He expressed confidence that the officers would transfer the knowledge acquired to colleagues within their various units, thereby broadening the impact of the programme across the force.
Participants at the training commended Edgard Consulting Limited for the initiative, describing the sessions as practical, impactful and relevant to modern policing.
They said the training enhanced their ability to make critical decisions during emergencies and improved teamwork during rescue operations.

“All we acquired during the training was straightforward and practical. We learnt decision-making in critical situations, teamwork, victim evacuation and injury management. We will also pass this knowledge to colleagues who were unable to attend,” the officers affirmed.
A female participant also praised the quality of instruction, particularly the first aid and emergency response modules.
Edgard Reaffirms Commitment
Edgard Consulting Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national security efforts through professional training, security capacity development and strategic operational support in line with global best practices and internationally recognised security standards.
The initiative underscores the growing role of private-sector organisations in complementing government efforts to improve security preparedness, emergency response capability and operational efficiency among law enforcement personnel across the country.
