FG Applauds CORFEPS for Strengthening Governance, Driving Public Service Efficiency
The Federal Government has commended the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its significant contributions toward strengthening governance and enhancing efficiency in the nation’s public service.
The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, gave the commendation on Thursday when he received a delegation from CORFEPS led by its National Chairman and former SGF, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, during a courtesy visit in Abuja.

A statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, quoted Akume as acknowledging the advisory documents submitted by the Council to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, covering critical sectors of the economy. He assured the delegation that the President, as a listening leader, would give due consideration to their recommendations.

The SGF praised the members of CORFEPS for their meritorious service in the Federal Civil Service and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to drawing from their wealth of experience in nation-building.

CORFEPS National Chairman Speaks
In his remarks, the National Chairman of CORFEPS, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, reiterated the Council’s readiness to support the Tinubu administration through its advisory role in driving effective public service delivery.

He disclosed that the Council has so far submitted three major advisory documents to President Tinubu namely: Strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda (March 13, 2024), Enhancing Government Food Security Agenda (August 26, 2024), and The Deportation of Foreigners from the USA: Implications for Nigeria (December 19, 2024).

Dr. Yayale further revealed that the Council has forwarded an additional advisory document on the Tax Reform Agenda to the National Assembly for consideration.

The courtesy visit, Imohiosen noted, underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with retired top civil servants in shaping policies and improving governance outcomes.
